Andy Warhol
£70
Framed print
Andy Warhol explored the themes of fame and celebrity throughout his life. In the 1960’s he created paintings and prints of many celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis Presley. Later in the 1970’s and 80’s he was commissioned by hundreds of the rich and famous to create their portraits. Warhol’s practice of creating commissioned portraits allowed him another opportunity to document the world around him and acts as a lasting record of the European and American culture of that time.

“There is comfort and reassurance to be found in the rhythmic flow of pattern and repetition. It lends itself here to the cyclic nature of seeds, growth, new ideas and possibilities.” Christina Fedyk

Monte Carlo 300gsm watercolour paper. This premium paper made on a traditional cylinder mould machine by St Cuthbert’s Mill in Somerset where they have been making fine papers on the same site since the 1700’s. They are the only commercial paper mill in England to still use this paper-making process. Mould made paper combines the consistent quality of machine made papers, but with the individual character of handmade papers. A specialist coater adds an ink receptive coating layer, allowing us to print perfectly to conservation standards.
